Br. Tom Ruhmann, O.M.I.
VM National Director

Br. Tom was born and raised in Hecker Illinois with 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Graduated from St. Henry's Seminary in 1967. Attended Lewis College and Novitiate, Godfrey, IL 1969 and took first vows in August 1970. It was during this year that he first came in contact with Fr. John Maronic and the Victim Missionaries (as they were called then). Made final profession as an Oblate in 1976. For the next 34 years has worked in Missouri, Illinois, South Dakota, Wisconson, Nebraska, and Minnesota.

Bette is a lifelong resident of Belleville, IL.  She has 2 sisters (both of whom have been her co-worker or boss) and 1 brother.  She has spent 30 years in education—as an elementary teacher in a Catholic school and as the Latchkey Director at a local daycare.  In 2004, she returned to the “other side of the desk,” and became a graduate student at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis.  She is finishing up her Masters of Arts in Pastoral Studies degree, and will also be obtaining a certificate in Spiritual Direction.  She will graduate in May, 2010.

Bro. Francis Sullivan
, O.M.I., born in Chicago, Ill, made his perpetual profession as a Brother for the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1956.  His ministry has involved working with inner city parishes and serving the poor and marginalized.  He has served on Peace & Justice Commissions and in 1976 worked for awhile with Fr. John Maronic helping develop new VM Chapters.  He left in 1980 for work at the Oblate House of Theology in Chicago and assisting at parishes.  In 1996 Bro. Francis once again returned to the VM National Office this time as National Director.  He served for nine years until July of 2005 and he started Reduced Active Ministry, remaining as a part time Associate with the VM National Office. He is also the Postulator of the Cause for Fr. John Maronic, O.M.I.
